Cook, because I guess he wanted her to recieve the royalties while he served his term) Ron Brykowski actually played on the title track, though Eddie wrote it (Eddie was using his Mothers name Grace Cook, ala G. 'Standing on the Verge' album has Eddie on 3 tracks (though he wrote more than he played on) those being 'Red Hot Mama', 'Alice In My Fantasies' and 'Good Thoughts Bad Thoughts'. Somewhere around this time ('73-'75, not sure the exact time, but it was a one year sentence) Eddie served a prison sentence for assaulting an airline stewardess (Eddie looked out of the side window, and observed some UFO's flying alonside the plane, being high on Angel Dust, Eddie supposidly 'flipped out' and resisted any 'assistance' from the stewardess, if you know what I mean) When Eddie got out, he really seemed to be refocused, playing with more notes/runs and employing much more scale ideas. I personally WASNT a fan of this era tone of Eddie's.Įddie didnt play but on a couple tracks on 'America Eats Its Young' and NONE on 1973's 'Cosmic Slop' (though he recieved writting credits on some songs). This seemed to be the sound of alot of that early stuff. You can also see a wedge shaped box (got to be a Maestro fuzz) and a wha wha. This is what I've gathered,Įddie was using a Fender Dual Showman head and cab on the pic's I've seen from gig's in support of the 'Maggot Brain' album. I have researched and talked to people over the years who actually new Eddie. There isnt alot of info about technical aspects of Eddie Hazel's gear (like guitars, amps, effects).
